A MUM’S breast milk which dramatically transformed in colour from white to blue after her baby daughter was vaccinated has stunned parents.
Jody Fisher, a mum-of-four of Birmingham, said on Facebook that her milk turned blue due to “all the antibodies my body is producing as it thinks she’s sick with what she was vaccinated against!”
The before-and-after shots have gone viral, having been shared thousands of times on social media, and attracting thousands of comments.
Jody explained that her baby, Nancy, had her one-year jabs this week, and that the first picture she posted on her Facebook page showed the “normal colour milk from the day before she had them.
“The ‘blue’ colour milk is from today – two days after she had them.”
Jody said her breast milk had turned blue as “when she feeds, her saliva sends signals to my body to produce more milk with illness-specific antibodies.
“This is one of the reasons I’m still breastfeeding 13 months on… you don’t get all this goodness and nutrients from formula or cows milk. Way to go boobies (sic).”
Candie Cook commented: “It’s actually green because it’s foremilk. Foremilk has a greenish tint because it has less fat content. Hind milk is what gives breast milk that nice milky colour, because it’s high in fat.”
Samantha Bigelow said: “My milk always changed colours when my kids were sick! Sometimes that was our very first indication of them getting a cold.”
Others said they’d had similar experiences, with one mum saying her milk went “super blue” the day after her son was vaccinated.
While there were many comments from people who were totally awestruck that “our babies tell our bodies what they need from us”, there were also some anti-vaxxers who claimed Jody’s milk had changed colour “due to toxins and the reaction your body is having” to Nancy’s vaccination.
The huge response prompted Jody to update her post, saying, “holy s*** I wasn’t expecting this to go viral.
“I’m in no way shaming formula, I formula fed my 1st, and combi-fed my 2nd and 3rd.
“I was merely showing what women’s bodies can do when their children are poorly and this is one of the reasons I’m still breastfeeding at 13 months as I’m often questioned as to why I’m still doing so.
“My milk isn’t this colour from what I’ve eaten (not had anything artificially coloured/no supplements/no green vegetables).
“My milk is only ever this colour when my daughter has been sick… it’s never been like it when she’s been well.”
Jody also clarified that the duck egg blue coloured milk “was expressed straight after a feed so certainly not foremilk either.
“This goes to show the vaccines are doing exactly what they are meant to do, and so is my daughter’s body and mine.
“Don’t come on my post preaching about not having vaccinations and them being poisonous.
“I hope your child(ren) never becomes ill with anything serious or doesn’t pass it on to a poor baby waiting to have their immunisations because you don’t believe in vaccinations!”
