Ads on YouTube are a real source of annoyance for some users, but at £12.99/$13.99 per month, a full-priced Premium subscription is a lot to add to your monthly bills.
You can opt for a family plan if you’re part of a big household, or a student plan if you’re in university. If neither of these options suits your circumstances, then there’s a new plan currently being trialled in India, France, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, according to TechCrunch.
This is a two-person subscription, not dissimilar to Spotify Duo. It’s perfect for couples or friends who split bills together on a regular basis.
For an idea of how much you’ll save, in France, a two-person YouTube Premium trial subscription costs €19.99 per month, which works out to just under €9.99 each – €3 less than an individual subscription.
While this trial subscription isn’t yet available in the UK or the US, if it does roll out and follow similar pricing to France, it could cost around £19.99/$20.99 per month, though this is just an estimation. That would be £9.99/$10.50 per month per person.
As well as ad-free viewing, YouTube Premium allows you to download videos, PIP-viewing, and to play the audio while your phone is locked.
If you’re in America, you can also take advantage of YouTube Premium Lite, which includes all the above perks on all content apart from music, making it a good option for those who use the platform for vlogs, gaming streams and lifestyle content.
