Wiz Khalifa has been arrested and charged after smoking marijuana on stage during a concert.

The rapper, real name Cameron Thomaz, performed a gig at the Beach Please! Festival in Romania on Saturday night.

Shortly after the show, footage circulating on social media shows Wiz, 36, smoking weed onstage and appearing to be escorted by police officers after he finished the gig.

In a press release posted online, an official for the local Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) confirmed the star had been charged with ‘illegal possession of high-risk drugs.’

‘During a recital held during a music festival held in the Costinești resort, Constanța county, (Wiz) possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (risk drug) and consumed (onstage) another amount of cannabis under the shape of a craft cigarette,’ they continued.

‘We make it clear that, during the entire criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence.’

The Black and Yellow rapper – who is open about his daily use of cannabis – was reportedly questioned by police officers early on Sunday morning but later released from custody.

Later in the day, Wiz took to X to apologise to his fans and any ‘disrespect’ caused.

‘Last nights show was amazing (sic). I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a*s joint next time,’ he wrote.

Earlier this year, the See You Again hitmaker opened up on how much marijuana he smokes a day.

Appearing on SkinBone’s YouTube channel, the musician asked him how many ‘blunts’ he smokes in a day, referring to a cigar that has been hollowed out and filled with cannabis.

‘Like 30,’ Wiz responded, before saying he was halfway to his daily goal.

In 2017, he told Vice how smoking is part of his creative process when writing and recording music.

‘Smoking just helps to free my mind, slow my thoughts down and think about everything not only in a more poetic way but in a more creative way in general,’ he said.

‘Just taking my realest ideas and being able to put [them] on paper. It just makes it more vivid. And like I said, I’m able to just relax and be free. I like to smoke before, during and after I’m making music.’
