AFC Wimbledon have shared that works on damage to their pitch are set to be completed, external in time for their match against Carlisle United on 12 October.
The pitch at the Cherry Red Records Stadium had suffered significant damage after the nearby River Wandle broke its banks on 22 September.
The League Two club have had to pump over 100,000 litres of water from their ground and more than £120,000 has been raised after a crowdfunder was started by supporter Graham Stacey.
In a statement, the Dons said ground staff have now resealed their attenuation water tank and added layers of shingle, stone and sand to level the surface.
Replacement turf will then be placed on top of the area currently exposed from the excavation, with that planned to be finalised for Monday.
Wimbledon had to postpone a League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley, while an EFL Cup tie against Newcastle United, initially scheduled for 24 September, was moved to St James’ Park for this week causing a league match against Crewe Alexandra to be rearranged.
