A game involving playing your own hand against the dealer’s, this card game is all about holding a hand of cards with a total of as close to 21 as possible, without going over. And if that wasn’t enough, you need to have a total higher than the dealers to secure a win.
After placing down your wager, you’ll be dealt two cards, and the dealer will deal themselves two cards as well. Both of your cards will be dealt facing up, whilst only one of the dealers will be facing up, the other will be face-down, and not revealed until you are happy with your hand.
Numbered cards are worth their face value, both Jack, Queen and Kings hold a value of 10, whilst the Aces can either hold a value of one or 11.
When dealt your cards, you must add up your card values to find your total. If you reach 21 with both cards, let the dealer know you’re going to stand. If your cards don’t total 21, and you feel there is enough room for you to add another card to your hand, tell the dealer to hit. Once dealt your third card, if the addition of this card takes your total over 21, you’re out. If it steps you closer to 21 you can decide whether to add another card or to stick with what you’ve got.
Along with choosing whether you want to fold, hit or stand, you’ll also have the option to double down or split. Then, whoever holds the highest valued cards, without exceeding 21, wins.
