RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – So many kids got video games for the holidays. It’s one of the most requested gifts and also probably one of the most talked about because we know parents worry about safety and screen time.
Aubrey Quinn, who works for the Entertainment Software Association, dives into some of the positive aspects of video games in this week’s RVA Parenting.
“Studies show that kids who play video games learn how to learn,” Quinn said. “They’re learning and developing cognitive skills. Resilience when they lose and they have to start over. Teamwork strategy. There’s a lot of reading, surprisingly, in video games. And so these benefits are something parents should take advantage of.”
Quinn suggests that parents should be involved in making sure their kids are using appropriate games.
