A MUM has shared a snap of the fully stocked pantry that she has been filling up four years before the coronavirus pandemic hit.
The mum, from Victoria, Australia, says she began building up her haul when she fell ill after her first pregnancy back in 2015.
Her condition left her unable to work and in a bid to keep her cupboards stocked up she began stockpiling essential ingredients.
The mum’s shelves are now laden with pasta, jarred sauces, dry ingredients and cleaning products – gold dust in the coronavirus panic.
She shared a snap on the Facebook group Budgeting, Food, Savings Ideas, Life Help Australia.
Captioning her snap she wrote: “I’m a stockpiler. Not a bargain hunter, not a panic shopper. A stockpiler.
“Me and hubby have been stockpiling for four years now ever since we had our first child.
“I was extremely sick during my pregnancy and in hospital and out of work for 9 months meaning some weeks we could not afford food. That’s when we decided to start stockpiling.
“This current stockpile has taken me four years to build up. No one has ever had a problem with it, until COVID-19 happened.”
She went on to explain that she has been hounded by abuse with those accusing of her of being “selfish” in wake of the pandemic, despite the fact that she has had most of her provisions for years.
She continued: “People laugh at us etc. But none of our food goes to waste, and it means we don’t have to face the craziness at the shops right now.
“I do regular shops each week that are not huge and not expensive either. Either way, if we go into lockdown I guess we will be fine due to our four years of stockpiling.
“People can be awful about it but it’s taken me a long time to get a steady amount of stock that does not need refilling often. Believe it or not, the only thing I never stockpiled was toilet paper, now I can’t get any.
“Please note all of this was purchased well before the coronavirus happened. I’m not that rich to buy it all in one week.”
Fellow mums were quick to jump to her defence with one mum admitting that she had been stockpiling for three decades.
In other Coronavirus news, this mum has resorted to making her own toilet roll amid the stockpile panic.
Plus this mum’s £25 ‘shopping system’ gets her everything during coronavirus outbreak.
And this mum was horrified after she stockpiled 18 rolls of toilet paper only to have her kids chuck them all in the bath.
