If you’re a fan of video games and would like to earn some extra money then this could be the job for you.
An online tutoring agency has put a call out for individuals willing to teach children whilst playing popular video games, including Fortnite, Apex Legends and Call of Duty.
Increasing focus
Tutors will teach the children subjects such as English, maths and languages, all whilst playing a video game. The new service has been launched by Tutor House after research showed that one hour of video gaming can increase the brain’s ability to focus.
Research revealed that the practice can increase the brain’s ability to focus and that expert gamers had “more brain activity associated with attention than non-experts”.
How it works
The tutors will teach and discuss the learning material with their student at the same time as playing video games together. Regular breaks will also be taken in order to complete the learning material.
Tutors can deliver this service either remotely through online gaming channels or in person, costing parents between £40 and £50 per hour.
Role requirements
The tutor will need to have access to their own console and the desired video game once they have been hired by the parent.
They must also upload a CV which states their qualifications and which subjects they teach. Tutors will be required to disclose their gaming ability.
Alex Dyer, founder of Tutor House said, “There are loads of children who cannot concentrate in usual teaching environments, however that is normally the only option they’re given.
“We should always be thinking of new ways to make learning more enjoyable for children and, as kids spend a lot of their free time on video games now, it seemed like a great idea to combine the two.”
How to apply or hire a tutor
You can apply to be a tutor for the online company or hire a tutor for your kids via their website.
