Netflix has shared The Residence trailer for its upcoming murder mystery comedy, starring Emmy winner Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black, Mrs. America). The series is scheduled to make its debut on March 20, 2025.
“132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion,” reads the official logline.

Who is in The Residence trailer?
The video introduces Aduba as Detective Cordelia Cupp of the Metropolitan Police Department, who becomes the lead investigator of a high-profile murder case involving the death of the president. Her character is described as an astute observer of human behavior with a distinctive and unsettling conversational style. It also highlights the potential suspects, which include guests and White House taff.
The Residence is written by showrunner Paul William Davies, with How to Get Away with Murder creator Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers serving as executive producers. The ensemble cast also includes Randall Park, Giancarlo Esposito, Susan Kelechi Watson, Ken Marino, Jason Lee, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Mary Wiseman and more. Park is set to play the role of FBI agent Edwin Park, who has been assigned to work alongside Aduba’s Det. Cupp. Meanwhile, Watson plays Jasmine Haney, a White House assistant usher.
