Epic has just announced a slew of exclusive titles for Epic Game Store, sixteen at least, from partners as wide-ranging as Take-Two’s Private Division, Quantic Dream, Remedy and 505 Games.
In a related announcement, and following the success of The Division 2, Ubisoft has committed to launching more new titles, and back catalogue titles, on the store. This will be a continuation of its partnership, where titles are exclusive to UPlay and Epic Game Store. Some of those back catalogue titles have been promised as being part of the free games programme.
The most startling inclusion in the list of true exclusives are PC releases of Quantic Dream’s last three games: Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. All of which are coming to PC for the first time via Epic’s store.
Then Take-Two’s Private Division has jumped in with both feet, in this case namely Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds, and Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, from Panache Digital Games – read our recent feature on the triple-I indie publisher for more on those. That of course will provide the entire Take-Two group with deeper insight into the store, and could foreshadow a move by 2K or even Rockstar onto the platform.
Remedy’s next title, Control, published by 505 Games is also coming exclusively to the store on PC. And the publisher has also promised Typhoon Studios’ Journey to the Savage Planet as well to Epic.
Then there’s an impressive list of anticipated titles and a broad selection of indies and publishers: Afterparty from Night School Studios, The Cycle from YAGER, Dauntless from Phoenix Labs, Industries of Titan from Brace Yourself Games, Kine from Chump Squad, Phoenix Point from Snapshot Games, The Sinking City from Frogwares and Bigben, Spellbreak from Proletariat Inc, Solar Ash from Heart Machine and Annapurna Interactive.
Epic has promised more titles to follow, as it invests its Fortnite war chest into building out the store’s exclusive offering and ensuring that its store and launcher become a serious Steam competitor over 2019.
