The most popular baby names so far this year have been revealed – and, no, Olivia doesn’t make the top 10

2021’s hottest baby names have been revealed – and you might be surprised to discover your favourite quirky moniker isn’t so unique after all.

The baby name pros at Nameberry have released to The Sun the top 50 girls and boys names that UK parents are looking up on their website and startlingly few traditional choices make the shortlist.

In first place for girls is Elodie and the top name for boys is Arlo.

Looking at their most-viewed entries, Nameberry is able to predict baby name trends in real time – whereas the most recent government official list records names used for babies in 2019.

Pamela Redmond, the creator and CEO of Nameberry, says: “Our 2021 top names list predicts which names will be popular in the months ahead, going into 2022.

“Several names in our Top 10 don’t even make the official Top 100.

“Girl names we predict will become much more popular in the UK are Elodie, Aurelia, Ophelia, Ottilie, Eloise, and Lyra.

“For boys, we see Milo, Atticus, Rafe, Cassius, and Caspian climbing the charts.”

Looking at which names are falling out of favour, the decline of Olivia continues.

After topping the charts in 2018 and 2019, it was finally bumped off top spot last year and has fallen again this year to 29th place.

These are the old fashioned baby names set to make a comeback and it looks like Peaky Blinders is part of the reason why.
