The Masked Singer returned to our screens this evening, but as Toad in the Hole was voted off they threw a big diva strop and stormed off stage, leaving the show in a state of chaos
American singer Macy Gray was exposed as the Toad in the Hole on The Masked Singer tonight and threw the whole show into chaos. After being in the bottom two, Toad in the Hole was in a sing-off against Bear, and the judging panel decided to keep Bear in.
Before they could do the big reveal, the panel, consisting of Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and guest judge Suranne Jones, alongside host Joel Dommett, were left open mouthed when the singer stormed off stage.
A source close to the I Try star revealed that she was “totally blindsided” to be one of the first to leave this series.
On tonight’s show, it seemed like the singer stormed off but came back moments later. In fact, the show was left scrambling for nearly an hour to coax her back onto stage.
When she finally returned, the masked singer was revealed to be the American singer Macy Gray.
A source told The Sun: “Obviously, The Masked Singer isn’t a singing competition and is just a bit of fun, so being voted off was no indication of her talent, but no one could believe a global superstar like Macy had lost it like this.
“It took everyone backstage ages to talk her round and poor Joel was on stage essentially doing a stand-up routine to try and keep things under control.”
None of the frantic backstage chaos was visible to the television audiences, making the show appear seamless.
Gray is a R&B singer and actress, known for her raspy voice, and has previously starred on the US Masked Singer where she came third.
The sixth series of The Masked Singer launched last week, January 4, and five contestants took to the stage.
