A Boots pharmacist has revealed the exact date you’ll need to order any prescriptions by in order to have them filled in time for Easter.
For pharmacists, the run-up to Easter is one of the busiest times of the year. This should serve as a reminder to get your prescriptions in early to make sure you have access to your medications throughout the Easter weekend.
“With many GP surgeries operating limited hours over the Easter weekend, I always advise my patients to order their NHS prescription earlier than usual, to give enough time for your GP surgery to approve your prescription so that it can be sent to and dispensed by your local pharmacy,” said Boots pharmacist Bina Mehta. “To ensure you’re not without your medicines over the Easter bank holiday, I recommend my patients get their orders in by 11 April at the latest.”
When do you need to order prescriptions by before Easter?
It’s earlier than you might think, as the final deadline is April 11.
Ordering prescriptions by April 11 will ensure they will be dispensed by Boots by April 17. Some Boots stores are open over the Easter bank holidays and patients are encouraged to check their local store’s opening times.
If you get your prescriptions filled at Boots, using its online prescriptions service means you can track updates on your prescriptions and be notified as soon as they are ready to pick up.
“Easter is one of the busiest times of the year for us in the pharmacy at Boots as we try to ensure that our patients have their prescriptions dispensed, before the four-day bank holiday weekend,” added Bina. “But, with a bit of forward planning, there’s no need to worry and tools like Boots online prescriptions and the NHS app integration make it easy for people with busy schedules to get their prescriptions.”
