David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son Brooklyn was noticeably absent from his dad’s 50th birthday celebrations.
David Beckham, known for his close-knit family values, was no doubt looking forward to celebrating his recent 50th birthday surrounded by loved ones. However, the occasion was marred by a reported family rift that seems far from being resolved.
According to a source, David and his wife Victoria are “hurt and angry” after their eldest son Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz apparently gave the birthday festivities a miss. The football icon celebrated his milestone with a lavish party attended by his three younger children, Romeo, 22, who brought along his girlfriend Kim Turnbull, Cruz, 20, accompanied by Jackie Apostel, and their daughter Harper Seven, 13.
They were also joined by celebrity friends like Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria. Yet, Brooklyn and Nicola, 30, were noticeably absent amid rumours of a falling out. The couple also did not publicly wish Victoria, 51, a happy birthday last month, adding fuel to the speculation.
A source has told the Mirror that Victoria is particularly hurt by the situation. The insider revealed: “Victoria feels betrayed by Brooklyn and Nicola because she’s done everything she can to make them both feel welcome and Nicola like another daughter. But she feels it’s been thrown back in her face.
“She would normally do anything to avoid a family fallout, but she thinks they’re both being unreasonable.”
The ongoing feud is reportedly weighing heavily on the couple, with the source adding, “David and Victoria are at a loss at what to do over Brooklyn and Nicola,”.
A source has revealed the disappointment felt by David Beckham’s family as they missed out on his 50th birthday celebrations, highlighting the importance of family and sometimes having to do things you don’t want to for the sake of loved ones.
The insider also mentioned that New York-born actress Nicola Peltz holds different views from her London-based in-laws.
They said: “Nicola has a very American way of thinking and refuses to put herself in a situation where she feels uncomfortable even for a minute, regardless of who she upsets – and has encouraged Brooklyn to do the same.
“It’s different to the way Brooklyn was brought up, but he seems to be following her lead. There have been a lot of tears over it, and David and Victoria have tried to put on a brave face but they’re hurt and angry.”
However, a person close to Nicola, who is believed to have engaged a new LA-based PR team to handle her image, insists that she and Brooklyn did not intentionally skip the event, but were “rebuffed” by David and Victoria.
The source said: “Nicola’s incredibly close with her family and hoped to have the same relationship with her in-laws. However, the in-laws’ behaviour towards Nicola and Brooklyn has made that difficult. They flew to London with the intention of celebrating David’s birthday but were rebuffed.”
Reports of a feud between the two couples escalated as friends of Nicola levelled serious allegations at the Beckham clan, accusing them of “emotional abuse and toxic behaviour”.
They commented: “We are at this point because Nicola, an outsider coming into the Beckham family, has been able to help Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within his family, that it’s not healthy and it’s not normal and it’s not ok.”
A source close to the Beckhams vehemently denied these accusations, saying: “I don’t think anyone who has ever seen David and Victoria with their children would recognise this deeply unpleasant attack. It doesn’t even warrant a response it’s so ludicrous and patently untrue.”
Additionally, another insider connected to the family expressed shock, stating that the Beckhams were left “open-mouthed” by the barrage of “pumping out untruths” being spread by Nicola’s friends.
Following Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding, the rumour mill was rife with stories about a rift between Nicola and her mother-in-law Victoria, including suggestions that Victoria was excluded from wedding preparations and eyebrows were raised when the bride chose to wear Valentino instead of a gown designed by her fashion designer mother-in-law.
Nicola clarified that there was no animosity, explaining to Variety, “I was going to wear a Victoria Beckham dress and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.
“She didn’t say you can’t wear it. I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it.”
Despite this hiccup, Brooklyn and Nicola have been seen publicly supporting the family, including attending Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week shows and being present at David’s premiere for his Netflix show ‘Beckham’.
However, rumours suggest another issue may be affecting the family harmony – Romeo’s relationship with his model and DJ girlfriend Kim.
The couple made their relationship public last November, and Kim, 24, seems to have developed a strong bond with the family.
However, In her younger years, Kim was friendly with both Brooklyn and Rocco Ritchie, Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s son, and is rumoured to have had a brief fling with Brooklyn, allegedly causing some jealousy from Nicola.
However, sources have told The Mirror that Brooklyn and Kim were never romantically involved.
The insiders also mention that David and Victoria “refuse to be dictated to” by Brooklyn and Nicola, insisting they will not prioritise the aspiring chef over their other children.
It’s an unfortunate situation, but one that many hope will find a resolution in due course.
