Strictly's Wynne Evans looks exhausted as he breaks cover for first time since BBC warning

Wynne Evans has been keeping a low profile since he was accused of making a crude sexual joke on the Strictly tour, but he broke cover to address his fans

Strictly star Wynne Evans has been spotted for the first time since it was reported that he received a warning from the BBC for making an “unacceptable” crude sexual remark to his co-staJanette Manrara. The Welsh opera singer, known for his Go Compare ads, has been touring with his professional partner Katya Jones on the Strictly Live tour but had to withdraw from the Glasgow date due to injury.

However, during a photocall for the tour launch in Birmingham, Wynne, 52, was caught making an inappropriate joke. The BBC issued a stern warning to Wynne, stating they “do not tolerate such behaviour”, leading Wynne to issue an apology.

Following this recent controversy and an ankle injury, Wynne appeared on Instagram Stories, looking exhausted after being reprimanded by the BBC. Speaking from his hotel room in Glasgow on Saturday night, a pale-looking Wynne with bags under his eyes said: “Ankle’s getting a bit better, it was great to be able to sing in Glasgow tonight, even if I couldn’t dance, hopefully back tomorrow. But watch this space, I’ll let you know in the morning. See how the swelling goes down, and all that kind of stuff, thanks for all the lovely messages, amazing.”

Other photos showed him arriving at his hotel for the live date. He gave a thumbs up to the waiting photographers, but his smile seemed somewhat strained, reports the Mirror.

As he stood by celebs JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, Shayne Ward, Montell Douglas and Jamie Borthwick, the star made a shocking gaffe. Host Janette, 41, sauntered over for a promo shot, when he burst into a “Go Compare,” tune, cheekily warning: “Not too close to Jamie.”

It didn’t stop there – he threw in a scandalous “spit roast” jibe at Janette, causing an awkward laugh from the cast.

EastEnders‘ Jamie Borthwick seemed to grimace, while Janette’s reaction was hidden, shielded by the other stars in the vid. Evans gave a self-satisfied cackle as the Mail broadcasted the cringe-worthy clip

Wynne later expressed remorse to the Mirror: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.”

BBC Studios also responded, underscoring they’d been clueless about the comment, with a spokesperson saying: “We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.”

This isn’t the first time Wynne has drawn flak for his antics. In one instance during Strictly’s live shows, he seemingly made his dance partner Katya Jones, 35, uneasy as his hand wandered from her waist toward her belly.

Russian dancer Katya seemed to swat his hand away, sparking a frenzy among fans who were fuming over the “grope”. Despite the duo later claiming the incident was just a “silly inside joke”, some viewers weren’t convinced by their story and slammed Wynne for what they deemed inappropriate behaviour towards Katya.
