Sam Heughan makes urgent plea to Outlander fans as he warns 'be careful'

Outlander star Sam Heughan has been forced to issue a warning to fans once more.

Outlander star Sam Heughan has taken to social media once again to alert his fans about online scamming risks.

The Starz series’ leading man, who plays Jamie Fraser opposite Caitriona Balfe’s Claire Fraser in the hit time-travel drama, has found himself issuing such cautions in the past due to similar concerns.

Using Instagram, Sam communicated the vital reminder to his audience of 4.4 million, cautioning them against the threats posed by online scammers.

Recently celebrating his 45th birthday on 30 April, the actor shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram story, adorned with love hearts.

Sam’s advisory note warned: “Please be careful on social media! Myself (or manager/agent/family/etc) will NEVER reach out asking for money or contact.”

He signed off his message with: “If it’s not verified, it’s not me. Be careful of scammers!”

This isn’t new territory for Sam, as he previously felt compelled to urge caution back in November last year before the premiere of Outlander’s seventh season, part two.

Then, he advised his supporters: “Please be careful on social media. So many scammers.

“I will never reach out or message on Instagram/Twitter/WhatsApp/Google hangout/etc Or ask for money.”

Concluding his warning, he stressed: “If it’s not verified it’s not me. No[r] will my agent/family/publicist etc… Or Telegram!”

He then exposed a scammer who was impersonating ‘Sabrina’, sharing their deceitful message which stated: “Hello, It is an honor to reach out to you on behalf of Sir Sam Heughan, who has personally recognized your exceptional dedication and enthusiasm as a fan.”

The scam continued with the false promise: “As a gesture of his sincere appreciation for your unwavering support, he is extending to you a rare and meaningful opportunity to engage in a personal dialogue with him.”

The fraudulent message urged the recipient to respond “as soon as possible”, a typical ploy used by scammers.

It concluded with: “Thank you for your longstanding support, which means so much to both Sir Sam Heughan and the entire team.” (sic)

Fans of Outlander are eagerly awaiting the show’s eighth and final season, although a release date remains under wraps, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

In the interim, enthusiasts can anticipate the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which delves into the romantic tales of Jamie’s parents, Brian and Ellen, alongside Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia.

Additionally, Outlander creator Diana Gabaldon unveiled the title of her concluding book earlier this week, announcing that the 10th instalment in the historical romance saga will be named A Blessing For A Warrior Going Out.
