Robert Pattinson has revealed that he “fucking hopes” The Batman 2 begins filming soon – see what he had to say below.
Back in January 2023, The Batman 2 was officially green-lit and was due for release in October 2024. Then Hollywood’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in 2023 happened, and production on the film was halted before it even began, delaying it to October 2026, pushing it back two whole years. Finally in December last year, it was announced that The Batman 2 has been delayed a further year and will now release in October 2027.
Given the five-year gap between the two films, Robert Pattinson has jokingly expressed that he wishes the sequel begins filming soon – last month, he revealed that filming is expected to begin at the end of this year.
Interviewing his Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero Magazine, the topic of The Batman came up, with Ackie asking if he’s “going to do Batman again soon”. He quipped in response: “I fucking hope so. I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.. I’m 38, I’m old.”
Pattinson went on to clarify: “I’m old, but I’m healthier. I think I’ve actually brought my biological age down a bit.”

In a four-star-review of The Batman, NME wrote: “Director Matt Reeves has mixed up gritty mob drama with film-noir detective thriller – and thanks to Dano’s ultra-creepy villain, some psychological horror too. Most of the time it comes off brilliantly.”
NME also praised Kravitz’ portrayal of Catwoman, calling her “perfect” for the role: “Here, Reeves gives Kravitz a proper backstory and tells it via seedy nightclubs and abandoned construction sites.”
