The Ring of Fire is a 25,000-mile strip in the Pacific Ocean made up of oceanic trenches, volcanic arcs, volcanic belts and plate movements. There are 452 volcanoes on the ring of fire and three of the world’s largest ever recorded volcanic eruptions happened there. This is how active the volcanoes there are right now.
The area has so many volcanoes because tectonic plates have collided, forcing one under the other to create a so-called subduction zone.

Chile
Villarrica volcano – unrest
Copahue volcano – unrest
When a volcano is in a state of unrest there is a volcanic ash warning but they are unlikely to cause a risk to life.
Further up the South American coast there is an active volcano.
Peru
Sabancaya volcano – erupting
The 5967m high Sabancaya volcano in Peru is erupting according to the Volcano Discovery map.
Ecuador
Sangay volcano
Sangay volcano is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and is located in Ecuador.
According to an interactive volcano map, Volcano Discovery map, it is currently erupting.
Reventador volcano
Reventador volcano, also in Ecuador is also active.
An eruption was recorded at the site on December 2017.
Costa Rica
Unrest has been recorded at three volcanoes in Costa Rica this year: Rincón de la Vieja volcano (Feb 10 2019), Poas volcano (June 3, 2019) and Turrialba volcano (May 22, 2019)
Nicaragua
Masaya volcano
An eruption was last recorded at Masaya volcano in Nicaragua on July 12 2016.
The volcano is still active.
Guatemala
Pacaya volcano
An eruption was recorded at the Papaya volcano in Guatemala on June 21 this year.
there were reports of mild strombolian activity in Mackenney crater and lava flow on the north east side.
The Fuego volcano is also active.
A volcanic ash advisory was issued for Fuego on June 21.
The Santiaguito volcano was also recorded as erupting on June 21 2019.
Mexico
The Popocatépetl volcano in Puebla Mexico is currently active.
During a 24-hour window between June 29 to June 30, the volcano experienced a particularly intense phase with the comparably large number of five explosions.
Further north in Mexico there is minor activity recorded at the Coima volcano.
On June 21 intermittent small explosions and steam/gas emissions were recorded.
The volcano discovery map shows other volcanoes on the Ring of Fire to be fairly quiet for the moment.
Central and South America is currently a hub of volcanic activity.
