Richest musician in the world's eye-watering net worth as Jay-Z overtaken for top spot

The richest rapper in the world has reportedly been overtaken by another musician boasting a truly massive net worth.

Jay-Z was thought to be the richest musician on the planet at the start of 2025, boasting a net worth of $2.5billion. He overshadows stars including Taylor Swift, who is a fellow billionaire with a net worth of $1.6billion, and his own wife Beyoncé, who is worth $800million.

Also high on the list is Rihanna, who was the first female musical artist to become a billionaire, worth $1.7billion. Bruce Springsteen is worth $1.1billion, while Jimmy Buffett had a net worth of $1billion when he died in 2023.

But now there’s another contender in the running, and his net worth is even more impressive.

Rapper Kanye West has claimed his net worth has outstripped Jay-Z’s, and currently stands at $2.77billion.

A post from Eton Venture Services, shared on Ye’s Instagram, read: “In 2025, Ye’s net worth stands at $2.77billion USD as confirmed by Eton Venture Services. The valuation is based on his music portfolio and his sole ownership of the Yeezy mark.”

Yeezy made $19.3million from its Super Bowl advert, while his track Vultures hit number one in 100 countries around the world.

Kanye confessed he was “two months from going bankrupt” before he launched his last album and “put everything I had” into the advert. The controversial rapper, who moved to Italy with his new wife Bianca Censori, caused a stir with anti-Semitic comments he made.

Ye insisted: “They got the right to their opinion, I got the right to my opinion,” when asked if he regretted the comments.
