Where some celebrities like to keep their weight loss goals a secret, one has proudly announced she’s reached hers.

Pop icon Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, has taken to Instagram to share that after a lengthy journey, which she has been sharing with fans, she has reached her weight loss goal.

Sharing an image of herself in workout gear, the Truth Hurts singer, 36, inserted a screenshot which announced she had hit her target.

‘I did it’, she wrote in the caption of the post. ‘Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!’

Lizzo has made no secret of her journey, often sharing snippets of her workouts, her meals and her emotions throughout the process on social media.

While she didn’t say exactly what her goals were or what her statistics before she started her journey were, she shared that she has dropped 16% in body fat.

Sharing a video on her Instagram Stories from during and after the process, she discussed how she was mostly working out to be happy within herself.

‘I am actually on an intentional weight loss journey right now,’ she said in a clip presumably taken last year. ‘Even at the end of my weight loss journey, I’m not going to be considered thin by any means.

‘I will still be considered morbidly obese on the BMI, and little bros on the internet are still going to call me “big backed.” But I will be happy,’ she said.

The video then cut to her today, where she could be seen grinning ear to ear as she declared: ‘And I am happy’.

The Grammy award winner began sharing her weight loss journey last year when she hit back at rumours and theories that she had been using Ozempic.

Making fun of the situation, she wrote on Instagram in September: ‘When you finally get ozempic allegations.’

She added that her weight loss was not thanks to the popular diabetes drug commonly used for weight loss but was actually ‘after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit.’

Following her most recent post, fans were quick to take to the comment section, where they shared congratulations for the star.

‘Let’s gooo!!! Definitely an inspiration’, @pearlfekt_22 wrote under the photo.

In past videos shared on the pop star’s TikTok and Instagram accounts, she has been seen doing a variety of different workouts, from skipping and squats to burpees and side planks, even going as far as pulling a friend on a sledge.

She has also spoken about how her health journey saw her incorporate animal protein into her diet despite having been a vegan since 2020.

In an Instagram video last year, she said: ‘After tests and research, I found that animal proteins helped me have more energy, lose weight and helped with my mental fog.’
