Tyson Fury’s eagerly anticipated rematch against Deontay Wilder is likely to take place in February 2020, according to his US promoter Bob Arum.

The Gypsy King marked his return to heavyweight boxing’s top table following a controversial draw against the WBC champion back in December.

Fury twice climbed off the canvas but largely outboxed the American over the course of 12 incident packed rounds at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.

The 30-year-old has subsequently signed a lucrative agreement with US broadcaster ESPN that will earn him around £80million over the course of his next five fights.

Reports earlier this week claimed Fury will return to the ring this summer to fight the unbeaten German Tom Schwarz.

Wilder, meanwhile, turned down a $100million offer to fight on DAZN and remain with Showtime, will face mandatory WBC challenger Dominic Breazeale in May, meaning fight fans must wait from the Bronze Bomber to lock horns with Fury again.

‘Assuming he (Fury) wins this fight, he’ll have another appearance in the United States,’ Arum said.

‘Then hopefully next year in February he’ll end up fighting Wilder. Their idea is to have Wilder fight twice on their platform and then to get together a do a PPV fight. ESPN is just a distributor.

‘It may well be that Wilder also has a network involved. They may want to share the distribution in some way with ESPN and that is something we’ve done before.’
