Haribo fans have been left scratching their heads after discovering one of its iconic sweet shapes isn’t a key like they always thought.
Wanting to settle the debate once and for all, a man shared how an argument broke out between him and his wife over what the Tangfastics sweet is actually meant to be.
In a Reddit post, he said: “After five years of marriage, we’ve just discovered that my wife and I refer to this particular Haribo sweet as something different to each other. What do you call this Haribo?”
While some users believe it’s meant to be a key, others say it’s clearly a baby’s dummy. However, another user shrugged off both of these answers instead proclaiming it to be a looking glass.
One user said: “I used to call them keys before I found out they were dummies.” Another user added: “I always thought they were meant to be a fizzy version of the ‘ring’ Haribo’s but dummy makes sense now that I look at it. Never liked Tangfastics though.”
A third user said: “It was a key to me but I know they’re apparently dummies. But they’re clearly not dummies.” One more user added: “It’s a dummy but I call it the key.” According to Haribo, the correct answer is dummy.
The confectionery company even sell packets and tubs of dummy sweets separately for those who favour them to any other shape. Commenting on this, one user said: “Dummies, it says so on their packaging…” While another confirmed: “It’s a dummy. The things babies put in their mouths.”
It comes after another social media user shared their shock after discovering the green gummy bear is actually strawberry flavour. Most people assumed the green sweet was lime or apple flavour, so were stunned that the real taste is actually strawberry. One person took to social media to share: “Calling the police over whether the green Haribo gummy bears are strawberry or apple.”
Someone else took to Twitter to share: “I was positive they were apple flavoured. Man, now I don’t know what to think.” The five flavours of the gummy bear sweets are: orange, strawberry, pineapple, lemon and raspberry. But some were quick to point out that the flavours are actually written on the back of the pack and can be found on the website, so they were not quite as surprised at the revelation.
