Manchester United star Pogba was in manager Didier Deschamps’ starting XI for the trip to Moldova tonight.
Pogba has hit top form for United in recent weeks – largely due to the fact Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken over from Jose Mourinho as manager.
The World Cup winner was also in sizzling form tonight for his country as he set up Griezmann for the opening goal with a lovely assist.
As these images show, Pogba received the ball on the edge of a packed penalty area.
But instead of shooting or passing out wide, the midfielder dinked his pass over the Moldova defence for Griezmann to run on to and score.
France found themselves 3-0 up by half time thanks to further goals from Raphael Varane and Olivier Giroud.
But for fans following the game on social media, it was all about Pogba.
“Sir Paul pogba,” one fan wrote.
Another put: “Sub lime! Danger- Genius at Work!”
A third wrote: “Summoning up his inner Cantona with that one”
And a fourth tweeted: “Weight + timing = precision”
A Tottenham fan joked: “Graeme Souness will claim this was a chiped shot attempt.”
And one supporter noticed it was very similar to a Cesc Fabregas assist to Andre Schurrle when Chelsea scored against Burnley back in 2014.
“Been watching that Fabregas assist to Schurrle from 2014,” they said.
Indeed, that was Fabregas’ debut for the Blues after his arrival from Barcelona and the Spaniard went on to light up the Premier League that season.
Speaking of the assist five years ago, Fabregas said: “You always want to do well and I love playing football, we have a very talented young team and so far so good.
“Everyone has treated me very well and I’m enjoying it here. Everyone has made it so easy for me, the staff, the players.
“It was something I would never have expected, football has brought me here and I will give my best to make it work for me and Chelsea.”
