The 2025 Oscars took place on Sunday evening, celebrating the best of the big screen, with Anora, Dune Part Two and Wicked among the big winners on the night
The 97th Academy Awards, Hollywood’s most anticipated film event of the year, took place last night. The Oscars, hosted for the first time by Conan O’Brien, saw a host of international actors descend on the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, all hoping to take home one of the coveted golden statues.
A total of 23 awards were presented throughout the evening, recognising excellence across a variety of categories including acting, directing, and writing, as well as technical achievements such as hair and makeup and editing. This year’s competition was fierce, with major contenders like Wicked, Dune: Part Two, Conclave and Anora vying for recognition.
Many of these blockbusters received nominations in multiple categories, meaning some left with more awards than others. The ceremony was filled with emotion, laughter, and powerful speeches as the winners expressed their gratitude.
