Netflix fans have been left in floods of tears watching a rom com starring Aisling Bea.

And Mrs, which is set in London, sees the comedian and actress play bride-to-be Gemma, who is left devastated after the sudden death of her fiancé Nathan, played by Colin Hanks.

With their wedding only a few days away, Gemma then makes the decision to go ahead with the event, despite the fact her partner won’t be there.

Although her late fiancé’s sister Audrey (Billie Lourd) gets behind the unconventional plans, Gemma finds it a bit more difficult to convince others that her idea isn’t completely crazy.

When it was first released, the movie was praised for pulling the ‘gimmick’ off, with many fans saying it was also hugely emotional.

‘She gives a superb tragicomic performance here, capable of wringing big laughs and also totally devastating you with raw emotion,’ DigitalSpy wrote of Aisling’s performance.

‘It’s an affecting British rom com unlike any you’ve seen before, and one that will give you as many laughs as it will tears,’ the review also read.

Although some questioned it being called a romantic comedy, the film was also compared to legendary British director Richard Curtis’ style.

It’s now been released on Netflix, with viewers saying they were left in tears seeing its exploration of grief.

‘I just watched And Mrs on Netflix and didn’t expect to be sobbing this Saturday afternoon. Heartbreakingly funny and those end credits finished me 💔’ user fletcherzr01 shared on X.

‘If you want a gorgeous, funny movie with all the feels which will also tear your heart out, then And Mrs from on Netflix is worth watching,’ Claire added.

And Mrs also stars Sinead Cusack, Elizabeth McGovern, Susan Wokoma, Peter Egan, Omari Douglas, Harriet Walter, Paul Kaye, Arthur Darvill and Nish Kumar.

Ahead of the movie’s release, director Daniel Reisinger told the Big Issue it had been ‘incredibly gratifying seeing And Mrs touch audiences’.

‘It puts an arm around your shoulder and says grief sucks, but it’s a part of life and lets you laugh through the tears,’ he added.

He also spoke about the shared experiences of grief for himself and the stars, with his mum dying just a week before the movie was greenlit.

The credits pay tribute to his mother, as well as Aisling’s father, who died by suicide when she was just three-years-old.

Billie’s mother Carrie Fisher died aged 60 in 2016, while Colin lost his mother when he was a teenager.

And Mrs is streaming on Netflix.
