Naga Munchetty makes huge career announcement away from BBC Breakfast

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty has made a huge career announcing telling fans she has penned a new book about women’s healthcare.

Taking to Instagram, the 49-year-old broadcaster announced her new book, titled It’s Probably Nothing, as the presenter encouraged women to “take their health seriously”.

The new book dives into critical issues in women’s health, inspired by her own struggles and the broader challenges women often face in the healthcare system.

She captioned the post accompanied by a photo of the cover, stating: “Why can the healthcare system feel rigged against women? And how can women be empowered to fight for an answer beyond just being told they’re ‘unlucky’?”

She went on to explain that she combined personal experiences, interviews, and medical evidence to craft a guide aimed at helping women navigate their healthcare throughout their lives.

“Using extensive interviews and medical evidence, as well as my own experience getting diagnosed with adenomyosis, I have aimed to put together a handbook for women at every stage of their lives that will help them get the care they deserve.”

She finished with: “It’s time our health is taken seriously.”

Fans were thrilled at the new announcement, with many praising her in the comments.

“Thank you for shining a light on this Naga! As a women’s homelessness organisation we see first hand the devastating health impacts that marginalisation can have – the average age of death for women who are sleeping rough is just 43. Whilst there are complicated reasons for this, health is a huge contributor.”

“Thank you for writing this. I have had it confirmed today that I need a hysterectomy, after years of struggling with endometriosis and adenomyosis. This book is so needed,” another gushed.

A third penned: “This is so amazing! Well done and congratulations Naga, can’t wait to read it and add it to my collection.”

The book is set for release in April 2025, but fans can pre-order.

Meanwhile, the beloved presenter, who graces our screens from Thursday to Saturday each week alongside Charlie Stayt, has bagged a new gig as she steps in to replace current host Nihal Arthanayake on BBC Radio 5 Live, who has stepped down after eight years.

TV critics Scott Bryan and Hayley Campbell will continue their roles on the show. The new line-up, including Naga, will guide listeners through the best and worst of TV and streaming content, offering advice on must-see shows.

Naga hasn’t yet commented on her new role.

The star, widely recognised for her work on television, is equally engaged in the world of radio, presenting on BBC Radio 5 Live every Monday to Wednesday, from 11am to 1pm.
