'My boyfriend won't change clocks for daylight savings – and others agree with him'

A woman was left dumbfounded after learning her boyfriend doesn’t change his clocks for daylight savings time, deeming the biannual tradition a futile endeavour.

Upon entering her partner’s truck and spotting the time reading 7.30pm on his dash, she hurriedly sped to her appointment before realising with a jolt that the actual time was an hour earlier, at just 6.30pm.

Venting on Reddit, she said: “It has been a couple weeks since day light savings. I told him this was insane and he said back ‘why? I know it’s 6.30pm, not 7.30pm’. I asked him if he was ever going to change his clock and he said no, he doesn’t do that.”

Confused by his method of deliberately keeping the incorrect time for six months in anticipation of the next clock change, she asked: “Am I the a**hole for telling him he’s lazy and that it’s crazy that he doesn’t think it’s important for him to have a correct clock for 50% of the year?”

One user said: “It’s his truck and his rules. Is this some kind of power trip you’re on to try to make him change it?”

Another added: “I met someone before that did that. My sister keeps her clicks thirty minutes ahead so she isn’t late… but if she knows the clicks are fast, doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

“Anyways, his clocks, he is allowed to do with them as he pleases. After the first couple of days, a person adjusts to the change, so the incorrect clock should be a non factor. You’re the a**hole, and shush before he points out some odd stuff you do.”

A third user also pitched in: “I’m your boyfriend! I never change my clocks, because in six months it’ll go back to being correct. I know it drives some people crazy but I’m so used to it that it doesn’t bother me at all. I wouldn’t think anyone telling me to change it is the a**hole, but I still ain’t gonna change it.”

Another weighed in: “You’re the a**hole, t’s his truck. I’ve gone a whole DST with my clock not correct, and it’s fine. If it was a house clock or a shared vehicle, fine, but his personal vehicle, let him live his life.”

Lastly, someone added: “My husband just rolls his eyes at me. One time, he changed it for me. So that’s an option if it really bothers you.”
