A MUM is speaking out after being left stunned by the immense cost of her son’s school trip.
Emma took to her TikTok page to share a video in which she took aim at the school, insisting parents should have been informed before their children about the trip – which would set them back a staggering £3,500.
“I’ve got to share this and I know my kids will probably see but I can’t believe this,” she began.
“I’ve had an email from the school this evening about my eldest going on a trip for two weeks in 2024 to an amazing part of the world but it’s £3,500.”
While Emma said she would work “four jobs” if she had to in order to pay for the trip, she acknowledged there would be plenty of families who wouldn’t be able to afford it.
“The UK is in a mess right now – and there are going to be plenty of families who cannot afford this sort of money to go on a school trip,” she said.

“And I don’t think it’s fair for the kids to already be briefed about this amazing trip before the parents.
“Can’t the parents be informed first?
“And then the families who can make ways to be able to pay for this trip, then the kids get told about it.
“Do it the other way around. I don’t think it’s fair.
“Not with kids at that age.”
She added in the caption: “Can schools stop ‘selling’ expensive trips to the kids BEFORE informing the parents.
“We suffer enough parent guilt as it is.”
Taking to the comments section, Emma also wrote: “I was thinking out loud in this.
“I just feel that they pretty much ‘sell’ it to the kids before the parents even know that there is a trip.
“And also can I say that I am in no way trying to make anyone feel bad.
“This is just a rant out loud to share my thoughts on expensive school trips.”
Other parents were quick to comment on Emma’s video, with one writing: “I totally agree with you.
“It puts more pressure on families, that quite frankly don’t need any more at the moment.”
“A friend’s son has a ‘business studies trip’ to New York.. £1500. 4 nights and basically being tourists,” another added.
“£3,500 WHERE ARE THEY GOING TO THE MOON !!!” someone else asked.

“I don’t think they should run trips like that at all,” another comment read.
“Some kids don’t have money for breakfast!”
