Tom Fletcher has spoken of his ‘overwhelming pride’ for his son, Buzz, after he followed in his dad’s footsteps into the world of showbusiness.

The 10-year-old has made his musical debut in Starlight Express, in which he portrays the narrator Control in the Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber roller skate musical.

Buzz acts as an announcer during the steam engine’s battle against the diesel locomotive.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the McFly singer, 39, said they had ‘been keeping this quiet for a little while’ before Buzz’s debut performance on Saturday at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre.

He shared an adorable video of the two walking to the venue, as well as clips of Buzz onstage.

‘I can’t even begin to describe the overwhelming pride (and nerves!) watching him run out onto that stage and deliver those opening lines and then give the most amazing performance,’ proud dad Tom wrote in the caption.

‘It was total magic and a memory for us all that will never be forgotten!

‘I can’t thank the whole Starlight team enough for believing in him and giving him this amazing opportunity to be part of this absolute spectacle of a show.’

Tom added that he did his performing arts school ‘proud’, adding: ‘Also, a huge thanks to all his teachers and of course @joscottschool who have been so amazing at supporting and encouraging him through the auditions and rehearsals. He did you all proud tonight!’

His former Strictly Come Dancing partner Amy Dowden wrote on the post, saying: ‘Always said he’s going to be on the stage. Go Buzz and well done to his fabulous parents.’

With lyrics by Richard Stilgoe and music from Lord Lloyd-Webber, Starlight Express has had thousands of London performances since 1984.

Tom shares Buzz, Buddy, eight, and Max, six, with wife Giovanna Fletcher.

It won’t be long until the Obviously hitmaker hits the stage himself with McFly set to team up with Busted for an enormous tour later this year.

The Busted vs McFly tour sees the boybands reunite onstage for the first time in almost a decade to decide once and for all who is the better band – and they’re leaving it up to the fans to make that tough decision.

The tour kicks off on September 16 in Birmingham, playing across the UK before ending on November 6 in Sheffield

It marks the 25th anniversary of McFly, which also includes Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, and Danny Jones.
