Love Island star Maura Higgins has been sharing updates from a work trip abroad this week after speculation that it’s ‘business as usual’ for her following the Danny Jones scandal
Reality TV star Maura Higgins has teased that she is in her “cowgirl era” whilst on a work trip abroad this week. It comes following recent speculation that her approach is “business as usual” amid the fallout over her kiss with Danny Jones.
Maura, 34, and Danny, 39, were seen having a kiss at a BRIT Awards after-party in London earlier this month. The I’m A Celebrity stars are said to have partied together. McFly member Danny has since apologised to his wife Georgia Horsley, 38, with whom he shares his son Cooper, seven.
Just days after the scandal broke Maura headed abroad to the US for a photoshoot for fashion brand Oh Polly in Los Angeles. She’s since given glimpses into that job and she returned to the UK earlier this week. She’s since headed stateside again, sharing photos from Texas in recent days.
Sharing that she was going away just a few days ago, she told fans on Instagram: “So much travel this month.” Maura has since tagged the state in various posts and in one of them, alongside a wardrobe of outfits, she teased: “Cowgirl era.”
Maura is understood to be on the trip in collaboration with haircare brand Color Wow for the launch of its new Texas Hold ‘Em hairspray. She promoted the product in a video shared with her followers on the platform recently.
Yesterday she uploaded footage of herself enjoying the sunshine whilst out horse riding. The recent video was accompanied by Zach Bryan’s song Pink Skies and she wrote in the caption beside a brown heart emoji: “Morning ride.”
More recently, the Love Island finalist shared a photo of herself in a makeup chair whilst hair stylist Carl Bembridge held up a can of the hairspray. Maura was seen modelling the same outfit – which consisted of a white t-shirt, denim shorts, brown boots and a brown cowboy hat – that she had worn in a video of herself using the product on the trip.
Whilst another photo showed Maura posing in a bathroom mirror whilst wearing a black outfit and matching hat. In an apparent promotion of the brand Color Wow, a sticker on the mirror in the photo appeared to read: “WOWDY Y’ALL!” It comes as Danny’s wife Georgia is believed to have moved back into their family home.
Maura has yet to publicly comment on the scandal over her kiss with Danny, which has made headlines in recent weeks. A source however told the Mirror earlier this month that the reaction to it had been “utterly relentless” and “taken its toll” on her. Addressing her first work trip, they said: “She is trying to treat things as business as usual, but it’s hard.”
The source said at the time: “Maura is a tough character but the reaction to events of the last week has been utterly relentless, and it’s fair to say it’s taken its toll. She has found all of this very difficult to navigate. She appreciates she’s in the public eye and there is extra interest around her, but the abuse is off the charts, and people need to calm down.”
Danny issued a statement last week in which he apologised to his family for “putting them in this situation”. He wrote: “Hello everyone, sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me.”
He continued in the message: “I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately. I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.”
