Man Utd news LIVE: INEOS 'mind made up' on Erik ten Hag as Noussair Mazraoui has surgery

A former Manchester United scout has claimed that there is ‘frustration’ in the dressing room over Erik ten Hag’s treatment of Marcus Rashford.

The United forward finally appeared to find form at the start of the season, scoring in big wins over Barnsley and Southampton. He then struck again in the 3-3 draw with Porto last week.

But Ten Hag dropped Rashford for the next Premier League game, against Crystal Palace, after the triumph over Southampton. The Dutchman then withdrew the 26-year-old at half-time against Porto – despite his goal and assist.

Former United talent spotter Mick Brown claims he has heard of consternation within the dressing room over those decisions.

“I don’t understand the issue with Marcus Rashford,” he told Football Insider.

“In the week [against Porto], he played like the Rashford we know, running at defenders, causing all sorts of trouble and scoring a goal.

“Then he gets taken off at half-time and you assume he’s picked up an injury, but when Ten Hag was asked about it he said it was rotation.”

Brown continued: “I’ve heard there are a few frustrations in the dressing room because of these decisions and the way he’s treating the players.

“The main issue with Ten Hag, for me, is trying to understand these decisions he makes.”
