A man has been rescued after spending three days stuck in a city’s sewer network.

The man, named as Antonio, entered the drainage system from a nearby river and decided to explore the tunnels, but found himself lost.

Unable to return to where he entered, he eventually saw a distant light shining through a manhole cover on an overhead street.

Local residents said they could hear faint shouts of a man in the area, but couldn’t determine where it was coming from.

He reportedly hollered for three days before a passing woman eventually heard his cries and was able to locate where he was.

She immediately informed the authorities and Antonio was safely lifted out of the sewer.

The rescue took place in the city of León northwest of Mexico City, in Mexico, and Antonio was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical assessment.

There have been no further updates on his current health status.

Two videos of Antonio being found in the sewer have gone viral on TikTok.

A similar ordeal happened to a man in Essex, who fell down a drain and ended up spending three days trapped underground before being rescued after walking six miles through the pipelines.

The unnamed man emerged into daylight in Romford, Essex, and the first thing he said was ‘Does anyone have a fag?’

Sam Palmer filmed the moment that the 48-year-old was rescued after his cries for help were finally heard.
