Macaulay Culkin asks Weird Al Yankovic: "What was your relationship like with Michael Jackson?"

The actor briefly spoke about the late pop star at a comedy gig

Macaulay Culkin brought up the subject of Michael Jackson during a comedy gig with Weird Al Yankovic on Tuesday (March 19).

The actor and the parody musician appeared at Los Angeles’ Largo venue for a live recording of Culkin’s podcast, Bunny Ears.

According to the Sun, at one point the Home Alone star said to Yankovic: “I’m going to ask you a very serious question – what was your relationship like with Michael Jackson?”

Both men reportedly laughed as the musician replied: “Um, mostly platonic. I met him two or three times. He was pretty sweet to me.”

Culkin responded: “Sounds amazing, he sounds really cool, yeah. I will say he was a huge, huge fan of yours. Yes, he always had your videos kind of playing constantly. There you go, validation. Praise. Hail, Caesar!”

Phones were reportedly banned from the event, which was attended by Jackson’s daughter and Culkin’s goddaughter Paris.

Culkin and Yankovic’s comments come after the release of the new documentary, Leaving Neverland, which focuses on allegations of sexual abuse made against Jackson by Wade Robson and James Safechuck. Jackson had denied any sexual abuse claims up until his death in 2009.

Earlier this year, Culkin spoke out about his relationship with the late pop star, calling their bond a “normal friendship”. “[Michael] reached out to me because a lot of things were happening, big and fast with me and I think he identified with that,” he said.

“At the end of the day, it’s almost easy to say it was weird or whatever but it wasn’t because it made sense. At the end of the day, we were friends.”
