Posting on Facebook, the mum revealed the name, and it’s so bad people begged her to never use it.

“If I ever have a son, I’d love to name him Lucifer (and maybe the middle name Morningstar) trust me, I know what will come with that in the future,” she said.

“There’ll be extremely religious parents who won’t let their kids play with my kid because of his name but I think Lucifer is such a cool name.

She continued: “I wish it wasn’t attached to the devil. What does everyone else think about that?”

Understandably, people were left stunned by the name choice and some couldn’t believe she was serious about loving it so much.

One said: “Girl Lucifer Morningstar is a horrible name to give a dog, let alone a child.”

“Sounds like a recipe for getting bullied throughout his whole life, let’s stop giving our kids dog names,” a second commented on the post.

And a third chimed in: “You know it’s gonna cause a hard future for your kid why would you purposely put them through that.”

“If you had an ounce of love for your child, you won’t,” another added.

“This is the kind of stuff I thought was so cool when I was 14, but I grew up,” someone else slammed.

I named my 3-month-old baby after a fruit – people say she’ll hate me for it but I don’t care

“I can’t tell if this is a joke or not. My opinion? Think about the impact a name will have on a child, not just if you think the name is cute.

“It might be a good pet name, but if this child throughout their life interacts with religious children or adults there’s a good chance he’ll end up hating it, and it’s possible he’ll resent you for it,” another warned.

Meanwhile, someone else joked: “If his name is going to be Lucifer you have to name his sibling Beelzebub.”

And another shared some other name suggestions: “Maybe Dante, Damian, Lucius, Lucian? Those seem adjacent.”

The name isn’t the only one that’s sparked controversy on social media recently though.

Taking to Reddit, one woman revealed that a family friend recently adopted a daughter and decided to give her an incredibly unusual name, ABCDE.

The woman revealed that the name is supposed to be pronounced “absidy”, which is in itself a rather unique moniker.

Conveniently, the parent’s last name begins with an F, meaning that the child is called ABCDE F.

The woman said: “I have a family friend (they are friends with my parents) and they named their adopted daughter “ABCDE” and their last names conveniently starts with an “F”.

The little girl’s name is supposed to sound like ‘absidy’.

“I can’t help but feel bad for the poor baby she’s not much older than 4 or 5.”
