Love It or List It star Kirstie Allsopp has broken her silence after getting married in a “secret” ceremony. The 53-year old was reported to have tied the knot yesterday (January 25) to her long-term partner Ben Andersen.
Now the Channel 4 star has taken to Instragram to confirm that they are married. She shared a snap from their special day, with them both grinning from ear to ear as she stood with her arm through his.
Kirstie captioned the post: “It’s a huge privilege listening to your son give a speech at your wedding, which is one reason Ben & I are looking so cheery in this picture taken by @catherinebradleyphotography.”
She added: “I share a great deal on here and so appreciate all the kind & interesting comments, but I felt our wedding should be private, and luckily on the day it was.
“Unfortunately it turned out that there was an unseen pap, so I have released a couple of our own pictures. The upside is that at least I get a chance to thank publicly some of the lovely people who worked so hard, at such short notice, to make our wedding pretty special.”
The presenter went on to list the people who helped her on her wedding day, including florists and make up artists. She also let slip that she had bought her dress two weeks prior.
Kirstie continued: “To marry in the same church that my parents and grandparents married was always my hope and luckily I already know that we did live happily ever after.”
Kirstie and her now-husband, self-made property tycoon Ben Andersen, have been together for the past two decades.
“They share two teenage sons, Bay, who was born in 2006, and Oscar, who was born in 2008.
Kirstie once said: “Ben won’t ever marry me. He sat me down ten days after we’d met and said, ‘I never want to be married again but I’d like to have children with you and live with you for the rest of my life’.
“It was almost like a proposal. I felt I had to say OK. Ben is an amazing person who I love very much.”
