Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles player, was caught on camera smashing up a student’s phone after he hurled insults, aimed at Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, at the NFL player.
“How does it feel that your brother is a [expletive] for dating Taylor Swift?” the man in a hoodie shouted at Jason, as he walked through the campus for Penn State University.
Jason, who is a commentator for ESPN, was on campus to appear on ESPN’s “College GameDay” to promote Penn State’s home football game against Ohio State University.
Jarrett Daveler caught the moment on camera and posted it to X, writing: “Looked like a Penn State student was getting in Kelce’s face for no reason. Wild scene in State College.”
Jason, whose brother Travis plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, was also caught on camera turning to face the student, who wore his hoodie up, and having words before grabbing the phone, throwing it to the ground, and then picking it up to take with him.
However, footage later emerged, and was shared by TMZ, of Jason also using the slur, when the student pushed him in an attempt to get his phone back. “Who is the [expletive] now?” he repeated.
HELLO! has contacted reps for Jason and ESPN for comment.
Travis, 35, has been dating Taylor, 34, since summer 2023, and they went public with their romance at the end of September 2024.
Jason, 36, is very close with his brother; together they host the popular podcast New Heights, and Jason’s wife Kylie has often appeared.
Kylie and Jason also took their two eldest daughters to Taylor’s Eras Tour show in New Orleans at the end of October, revealing how close the four had become in the year since Taylor and Travis began dating.
Reports began swirling in September 2023 that the two had privately connected, which itself came some weeks after the Grotesquerie actor publicly made a move by revealing that he had hoped to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it when he attended the Kansas City stop of her Eras Tour concerts.
Taylor later called the move “metal as hell,” and it encouraged her to reach out, and they went public on September 24 when she made an appearance alongside Travis’ mom Donna Kelce at a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.
Taylor’s first season as an official football WAG couldn’t have been more successful, as she became a fixture at his games when possible, joining his friends, and often bringing along her own pals including Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid.
She also saw Travis and the Chiefs win the Super Bowl for the third time in four years, and she joined him and the other players on the field for the celebrations.
But their romance also led to criticism and skepticism, with many so-called fans complaining about Taylor cheering on her man, and the over-the-top coverage by the networks that saw her often appear on their small screens at home.
“I’m just there to support Travis,” she said of the complaints. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Travis has also supported Taylor as she tours the globe.
Once football season was over, the two traded places; infamously, on June 23, 2024, around the year mark of when their romance presumably began, he made his stage debut in London, performing as part of Taylor’s Tortured Poets Department section of the concert.
