iPhone users have been left surprised after learning about a secret button hiding in plain sight. The neat trick was discovered by a TikTok tech blogger who shared about a lesser-known function of the prominent Apple logo on every iPhone.
She revealed that the logo has a secret hidden function.
TikTok user Techgirljen explained that anyone with an iPhone 8 or later could enable a feature called ‘Back Tap,’ which effectively turns the Apple logo on the back of the device into a functional button.
To activate this feature, navigate to Settings, then go to Accessibility. From there, select Touch, followed by Back Tap.
You’ll find two options: Double Tap and Triple Tap, both of which can be assigned specific functions.
To demonstrate how it works, the tech expert set Double Tap to activate the Flashlight and Triple Tap to open the Camera app.
She then showcased the feature in action, illustrating how a few taps on the back panel could quickly launch these functions.
However, some users did not find the function useful, reports laudable.
One user on Reddit described the Back Tap feature as inconsistent. “I cannot get it to work when I want, but it randomly turns on the torch on certain occasions. I never found a proper way to tap the phone back so that it consistently works.”
Another user replied saying that the Apple logo isn’t quite the correct location to hit on many iPhone models, saying: “It’s great once you get used to it, I only use the double taps for a screenshot tho.
“Found the best place and most consistent is tapping the area southeast of the camera housing with my index finger.”
A third Reddit poster said: “Tapping southeast of the camera area was the secret for me.
“Before reading this Reddit posting, I tried double-tapping my iPhone 13 Pro near the Apple logo 100 times in a row, and it registered only twice.”
