Ranvir Singh has become a beloved figure in British homes, famed for her presenting roles on Good Morning Britain and as a stand-in host on ITV’s Lorraine, not to mention her dazzling stint on BBC‘s Strictly Come Dancing.

Off-screen, Ranvir’s personal life has often piqued public interest, from her divorce to her toyboy romance and “difficult experiences” on Strictly with dance partner Giovanni Pernice drawing attention.

Ranvir embarked on her broadcasting career at BBC North West Tonight back in 2005, cutting her teeth as a reporter and presenter. She moved to ITV in 2012 where she became an integral part of Daybreak and later Lorraine, charming viewers with her engaging interviews and relatable presence.

But it’s her role on Good Morning Britain that truly secured her status as one of the nation’s cherished broadcasters. Renowned for her thoughtful input and down-to-earth style of news delivery, Ranvir has garnered immense admiration across the board, reports Manchester Evening News.

In addition to her presenting duties, Ranvir Singh has branched out into quiz show territory with her role as host of Riddiculous, and regularly steps in for ITV’s Lorraine Kelly on the Lorraine show.

On a more personal note, Ranvir has navigated both highs and lows in her private life. Tying the knot with Ranjeet Singh Dehal in 2012, the couple welcomed their son Tushaan into the world, though their relationship dissolved during Ranvir’s pregnancy.

The single mum hasn’t shied away from discussing the complexities of raising her child whilst balancing a demanding media career. Committed to fostering a nurturing environment for Tushaan, Ranvir often shares insights into the trials and triumphs of single parenthood.

She opened up last year in The Mirror saying: “I have actually been a single mum since I was seven months pregnant. I’ve kept that so quiet but I am okay to talk about it now. And that’s a me thing. I’m happy to correct it today.”

She began dating Louis Church, a television producer who crossed paths with Ranvir on Strictly Come Dancing. The broadcaster has candidly spoken about their romance, embracing the age difference and labelling their union as “blessed”, all while they tackle the challenges posed by media attention.

Ranvir’s stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 was a career-defining moment for the presenter. Teaming up with Giovanni Pernice, she transformed from a novice to a talented dancer, wowing both judges and audiences with her performances.

One of her most notable dances was the Argentine Tango to Prince’s When Doves Cry, which showcased her poise and emotional depth. Despite facing criticism and whispers of tension with Giovanni, Ranvir demonstrated her commitment and composure, handling the physical and emotional demands of the show to ultimately place fifth.

Her raw emotion and vulnerability on the dance floor earned her consistent praise, and she made it to the semi-finals before being eliminated. Strictly provided Ranvir with a platform to showcase her talents and determination, while also opening up new opportunities for her in the entertainment industry.

In 2024, actress Amanda Abbington accused Giovanni Pernice of being “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean” during her time on Strictly. After bowing out of the competition early in 2023, Amanda’s claims sparked a wave of accusations against her professional partner.

Reports emerged that Amanda had a tearful meeting with two of Giovanni’s former Strictly contestants, including Ranvir and Laura Whitmore, to discuss their “difficult experiences” with him. Following a nine-month investigation by the BBC, it was confirmed that Amanda’s claims of verbal abuse and harassment by Giovanni Pernice were recognised; however, the report indicated that he was not physically aggressive towards his dance partner.

Alongside this revelation, Strictly Come Dancing announced the implementation of additional welfare support for those involved in the show. Discussing the investigation on Good Morning Britain last year, Ranvir Singh expressed her views: “I was pleased to see that the BBC investigation had concluded it had been going on for some time and that it ended with an apology to Amanda. I was pleased to see that.”

Furthermore, she added: “I think that it can only be a good thing that these extra welfare measures have now been put in place on the back of this investigation because ultimately, Strictly is a show that everyone should be having a good time on.”

She concluded: “It’s entertaining, it’s joyful and everybody should be having a good time whether they work on the show, and the audience at home should feel comfortable that it’s what everyone is experiencing.”

Good Morning Britain is on ITV1 weekdays at 6am and on ITVX
