EVERY mum and dad has their own style when it comes to raising their little ones.
And some people may find certain parenting styles more controversial than others.
One mum has revealed her parenting techniques, which she believes can be seen as “controversial.”
Alannah is a mum of two and has given an insight into how she raises her children, by sharing a video on TikTok.
The mum, who goes by the name of alannahharris_, says: “I want to start out by saying that we are all just trying to survive and navigate motherhood.
“If you don’t like the way that I do something, that’s fine.
“If I don’t like the way that you do something, that’s fine.
“This is the best community of mums here on TikTok, and you are all amazing moms.
“Now let’s get into it.”
Alannah first starts off by explaining how she does not allow her kids to go to sleepovers.
She says: “When I say this, I don’t mean, like, to go to Nana and Papa’s or, like, family members that I trust.
“I mean, like, when they get old enough to have friends in school, no, no sleepovers.
“They’re more than welcome to come over to my house.”
Alannah’s second rule is that she would never let her kids “cry out.”
She says: “My six month old, if she is upset and crying,
“Mummy’s coming or daddy’s coming, someone is coming to her.
“Now, if I’m doing something and she has been fed and changed, and I just know that she wants to be held, I’m not gonna run and drop everything, but I’m not gonna sit there and just let her cry.
“And I know there are several people that let their kids cry it out, like at bedtime.
“Again, no judgement.
“That’s just something that I do not do.”
Her third rule is that she will not force kids to hug and kiss someone, when they are leaving.
She says: “I’ll be like, oh, you wanna go give him a hug.
“But if my toddler tells me no, I’m not going to make my children do something that they’re uncomfortable with, especially if they barely know you.”
Alannah’s fourth rule is that she is a fan of co-sleeping.
She says: “My almost three year old is still in the bed with us.
“Do I wish that he would go to his own bed?
“Yes. However, they’re only little ones.
“I am his comfort, and I’m okay with that.
“Now with my baby, we did try her bassinet and she did great until she got to the four month sleep regression and then said she’s been sick.
“She has been in the bed with me.
“Hoping to go back to normal soon and put her back in the bassinet and the crib.
“But if not, it’s not the end of the world.”
The video attracted many likes with some other parents rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “Same here with no sleepovers!!!”
Another added: “Everyone has to do what is best for their family!”
A third said: “Girlll same about the sleepovers! My parents never let me and now I understand.”
