Tonight’s episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! saw Barry McGuigan victorious over the “hardest” Bushtucker trial of the show – but fans noticed that he appeared to “throw shade” at fellow contestant Dean McCullough as he returned to camp triumphant.

The former boxer volunteered himself to take part in tonight’s challenge, aptly named Spiralling Out of Control. Explaining why he wanted to put himself forward, while in the Bush Telegraph, the sportsman said: “This is a comeback for me, I suffered a TKO in the first round, the last time but this time I’m determined to get it right and I’m looking for the knockout.”

Ant and Dec revealed that he would be strapped to a giant spiral wheel, with one hand free. He would win stars by throwing balls into the hatches around the side, when they opened.

Each ball that successfully landed into a hatch equalled one star. Consisting of five rounds, the first four rounds would be two minutes each with two stars to win, ending with a three minute round where three stars were up for grabs.

As he spun around, getting quicker and quicker, Barry was joined by some offal, cockroaches and giant mealworms. He struggled to get his bearings initially but as the game picked up pace so did he – in the end he managed to secure an impressive 10 out of 11 stars.

Fans online applauded his performance, with one commenting on X/Twitter: “I feel like that was the hardest trial so far! I couldn’t have done that even without the bugs & the doors opening & closing! Barry smashed it! #ImACeleb.”

Another added: “One of the hardest trials ever and Barry got 10/11 stars. Well done Barry you were brilliant #ImACeleb.” One more said: “Omg, this is the hardest trial ever! Barry is killing it though! #ImACeleb.”

Returning to camp, the former boxer was applauded by his camp mates as he had a smile on his face. He proudly shared his achievement with them, saying: “No melodrama… 10 out of 11.”

They all went to hug him as they cheered but he held them off saying: “Oh no, you don’t want to come near me. Fish guts all over me.”

Fans thought it was hilarious and suspected that Barry could be “throwing shade” at fellow campmate Dean – who has done notoriously bad in trials so far this series.

One social media user posted: “10/11 stars no melodrama, the shade from Barry #ImACeleb,” while another echoed: “No melodrama .. 10/11. I loveeee the shade Barry #ImACeleb.”
