I had my son when I was 16 and HATE the name I chose – he can’t stand it either but refuses to change it out of spite

PICKING a name for your new-born is always a big decision, but one mum confessed that she regrets the name she gave her son.

The mum, who gave birth at 16-years-old, revealed that she wished her son would change his name.

Sharing on her TikTok account @cassdamm, she admitted that she wasn’t mature enough to pick a good name at the time.

After giving birth at 16, she felt she wasn’t mature enough to pick a good name, and showed a snap of her pregnant self with a smiley face drawn on her bump.

“As you can tell, I was peak maturity here, definitely somebody who should be naming a child.”

Cass continued: “When you have a baby when you’re 16, they really let you name that baby, even though you’re a child having a child, they let you name that baby.”

The mum explained that she ended up naming her son ‘Ainsley Oliver’ because it wasn’t a common name at the time and was present on her family tree.

“That’s what I came up with when I was 16, thinking I was picking a responsible name,” she said.

However, in the years that followed the name grew in popularity, but only for girls.

“Everybody thinks I have a daughter,” the mum confessed.

She’s not the only one who hate the name, her now teenage son can’t stand it either – but refuses to change it out of spite.

Although her son now goes by a shortened version of his name, he wanted to make sure his mum has to remember the horrible choice she made.

She said: “Every year I ask that kid ‘Do you wanna change your name? Do you want to go by your middle name?

“And it’s an absolute no, he’s making me live with that choice that I made.”

She added: “I promise you, the day he decides he wants to get rid of it I will be running to file the paperwork.”
