A 7-year-old girl carried out a thoughtfully executed plan to steal her neighbor’s husky – and was caught red-handed in an adorable moment.

Olivia Myers became best friends with her neighbor Amanda Sullian’s 11-year-old husky Gunnar, and got so attached that she wanted to take the dog home with her.

The little girl would play with Gunnar every day and had a running joke with Sullian around who the pup belonged to.

Olivia went so far as laying out her plan to Sullian, saying that she would replace Gunnar with a stuffed animal.

Sullian did not believe her – until she watched CCTV footage of the girl exactly as she had warned.

Surveillance video shows Olivia approaching Gunnar in the backyard of Sullian’s home in Gloucester, Massachusetts, with a stuffed animal husky.

Olivia immediately takes Gunnar’s blue collar off and puts it around the replacement. Then she puts a new green collar on Gunnar and places his replica next to him and runs away and calls for him in the distance.

Gunnar jumps up and looks back at his home, then at Olivia. The girl runs up to the dog and signals for him to follow her. After barking and looking back, Gunnar runs off with her.

Another clip recorded by Sullian shows her approaching Olivia and Gunnar and saying, ‘Did you steal my dog? Did you change his collar? What collar did she put on you?’

As Olivia smiles slyly, the owner gets closer to Gunnar and finds he is wearing a collar with the lettering, ‘Olivias dog’.

Meanwhile, Sullian finds that the stuffed animal is wearing Gunnar’s original collar with the words, ‘Mamas dog’.

‘When I got an alert from my backyard camera and saw what she was doing, I thought I’d let her play it out,’ Sullian told SWNS.

‘I was laughing inside the house, which I think Gunnar heard, which explains why he was so hesitant to go with her.’

Sullian said she approached the little ‘thief’ five minutes after she took Gunnar.

Olivia Myers, seven, has been best friends with Gunnar, 11, since they met two years ago. Gunnar’s owner Amanda Sullian, 38, has admired and encouraged their friendship since it began. Gunnar and Olivia play together daily, which has lead to an ongoing joke between Amanda and Olivia about who Gunnar actually belongs to.

‘I wasn’t really worried at any point,’ the owner explained.

‘I could see everything happening and they play together so often that I know they’ll be OK.’

Needless to say, Sullian has taken Gunnar back over his substitute.
