There’s plenty to love about the run up to Christmas, but getting to open an advent calendar door each day and enjoy a little treat is up there for me.
And this year, a number of brands have launched weird and wonderful advent calendars – from M&S’ fabulous Chocolate Shop, to Walkers’ controversial crisp calendar, and one that costs an eye-watering £180.
If you prefer savoury to sweet, then don’t panic as Heinz has you covered.
The condiment brand is the latest to jump on the bandwagon, launching a limited-edition 12 Days of Saucemas Calendar, packed with a number of fan-favourites.
The product, which costs £25, features 12 full-size bottles of Heinz sauces – everything from the classic Tomato Ketchup, to Truffle Mayonnaise.
For those wanting to get their hands on a calendar, they’re currently available on the heinztohome.co.uk website with free delivery, but there are only 2,000 on sale – so you’ll have to be quick to nab one.
Warning: Spoilers for the inside of the advent calendar ahead…
Heinz fans online have been left somewhat divided over the festive item, with some claiming it was their idea of ‘heaven’ and it had left them ‘speechless’, but others wishing they could change a few things about it.
On Instagram @UKNewestFoods shared a review for the advent calendar, filming themselves opening up the doors. In the clip, they gave it a 0/10 for festiveness, as the inside of the doors weren’t particularly Christmassy nor were there any festive flavours, but their overall verdict was that it was worth it for the price, as buying the individual sauces would add up to a similar total.
People in the comments weren’t too fussed about the design of the box, as it was the contents that they were more concerned with.
@jess93_xo said: ‘They have such a huge variety of sauces this was kinda disappointing, but worth the money. You need a mortgage for Heinz tomato sauce these days lol.’ Similarly, @simongallagher13 replied: ‘Have to say, putting in mayo and light mayo feels like cheating.’
However, @ams34567 disagreed with this verdict and was upset that there were only two bottles of ketchup, adding: ‘There should be more.’
While @yelle1383 was outraged that one popular sauce was notably missing from the advent calendar: Salad Cream.
