Nobody can agree if the latest theory for when the next GTA 6 trailer will be announced is actually credible or pure copium.
The run-up to GTA 6’s reveal trailer was filled with rumours and theories of when Rockstar Games would actually show the game off. Frankly, most of it felt like clutching at straws and random guesswork; people were even predicting an imminent announcement as far back as 2020.
You’d think things would have calmed down once fans finally got their long-awaited first look trailer, but it appears that hasn’t been the case. Said trailer never showed any actual gameplay footage and only offered a vague 2025 release window, meaning fans have moved on to trying to guess when the second GTA 6 trailer will arrive.
We’ve already seen one theory suggest that a date for the next trailer will drop this week, to coincide with publisher Take-Two’s next earnings call with its investors. Now, a second theory is boldly predicting an exact release date for the trailer, and it’s entirely based on… the moon?
On November 1, the Rockstar X account posted an update for GTA Online, accompanied by a screenshot that depicts a moon in the waning gibbous phase in the sky.
It seems completely innocuous to us, but a dedicated GTA 6 Countdown account thinks this is secretly hinting at another GTA 6 trailer releasing on November 22, the same day as when the real moon is in its waning gibbous phase.
Bizarrely, this isn’t even the first time fans have used the moon for predicting GTA 6 trailers. In October 2023, a similar post about a GTA Online update made the rounds solely because the positioning of a sign made it look like the Roman numeral VI, prompting theories of an October release for the trailer.
That obviously wound up being wrong, but the GTA 6 Countdown account asserts that post was a hint; it was just misconstrued. They point out the moon in last year’s screenshot was also in the waning gibbous phase, which matches the phase of the real moon on December 1 when the GTA 6 trailer was formally announced.
Judging by the replies, more than a few feel there’s some credence to the theory, but plenty of fellow GTA 6 fans think this is too much of a reach.
‘They will release the second trailer whenever they feel like it. Stop with all these conspiracies,’ reads one comment, while another simply, and appropriately, shared the classic ‘Here we go again’ GTA meme.
