Donald Glover has cancelled the remainder of the dates on his Childish Gambino tour after scheduling surgery for an ‘ailment’ which he must ‘confront seriously’.

The New World tour – which has been touted as his ‘final’ Childish Gambino tour – was set to head to the UK in November and early December to perform the biggest stages in Manchester, Glasgow, London, Birmingham, as well as Dublin in Ireland.

It comes after Glover postponed the remainder of his North American tour last month to focus on his ‘physical health’.

‘After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,’ Glover said in a statement on X on Friday.

‘After being assessed, it became clear I would not perform that night, and after more tests, I could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked,’ he said.

‘As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal.’

The music star did not specify details regarding the health issue.

However, the 41-year-old said his path to recovery is ‘something I need to confront seriously.’

‘With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates,’ he continued.

‘I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support.’

Fans took social media to express their concern, as @DebatingHipHop_ said on X: ‘Damn bro I was so excited to see you perform for the first time, hope you get well soon.’

‘You will always be my favorite artist/rapper, get well soon big dog we’re all sending you our energy,’ added @LegenDarrenX.

@beammeupbrian wrote: ‘Get well soon, bro. Sending you all our bests. Wishing you and your family strength.’

In September, when Glover cancelled his North America dates, he said: ‘Hey everyone. Unfortunately, I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks.

‘Hold onto your tickets. ALL tickets will be honoured for the upcoming dates in North America when they are rescheduled.’

He concluded: ‘Thanks for the privacy. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love.’

Titled the New World Tour, the shows mark Glover’s ‘final’ project under the Childish Gambino persona, a pseudonym he previously claimed to have adopted from an online Wu-Tang name generator.

He also recently released an album, Bando Stone and the New World, performing its tracks for the first time when his tour kicked off in Brooklyn in August.

A multi-talented artist, Glover is also a writer, director and actor, known for roles in Community where he appeared as Troy Barnes; Atlanta, as Earn Marks; and The Lion King, in which he voiced Simba.
