Coldplay are headlining Saturday night at Glastonbury for a record-breaking fifth time, after pop star Dua Lipa dazzled the crowds on Friday (28 June).
In a post to Instagram Stories just before their set, the band said there was “no place like home” as they shared a view from the Pyramid Stage.
So far in their set, they’ve performed a number of their biggest hits including “Yellow”, “Paradise”, “The Scientist” and “Clocks”.
Lipa, 28, impressed The Independent’s critics with a set comprising some of her biggest hits, along with singles from her latest album, Radical Optimism.
Across the weekend, an eclectic lineup will perform on the sprawling festival’s various stages.
Some of Friday’s highlights so far have included a thrilling performance from baroque-pop newcomers The Last Dinner Party, and a celebratory farewell from veteran Cyndi Lauper.
Meanwhile on Friday, the Sugababes drew a massive audience at West Holts, causing security to close down the stage in an attempt to prevent overcrowding.
Here is the full Glastonbury 2024 lineup and set times.
Chris Martin says playing Glastonbury has ‘always meant the world of us’
Chris Martin introduces a song from their very first album, “Sparks”, from 2000’s Parachutes. Beautiful and stripped-down on the acoustic guitar. Says a lot when you can still command your audience with that pared-back a set.

Coldplay possibly hosting the world’s biggest rave right now
I absolutely love the LED bracelets (which Coldplay pioneered) and a huuuuuge firework display going off as the band play “Sky Full of Stars” for a second time, after Chris Martin asked everyone to put their phones away and just lean into the music. I’m at home, and even I’m getting emotional at it all.

No sign of Dakota Johnson at the Pyramid Stage
I’ve asked my source to keep an eye out for Chris Martin’s girlfriend, aka the brilliant Hollywood star Dakota “actually, that’s not true Ellen” Johnson.

What is Chris Martin’s net worth?
I don’t really understand everyone’s obession with net worth but apparently it’s a thing. If you’re THAT curious, apparently Chris Martin has a net worth of around £160m, according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2023.
He can thank the band’s string of hit albums dating back to 2000, plus their years of arena and stadium tours, for that.

Coldplay open with ‘Yellow’ as they burst onto the Pyramid Stage (15 minutes late)
An extraordinary sight in what could be a record-breaking crowd for Coldplay’s record-breaking fifth headline slot at Glastonbury Festival. People for as far as the eye can see. And they’re not afraid of pulling out the big guns from the off, opening on a rousing performance of “Yellow” with Chris Marton on acoustic guitar.

Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg lead the crowd in a singalong to ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’
My source has just sent me some great clips and photos of Cruise and Pegg leading the massive Pyramid Stage crowd in a singalong to ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ by Oasis, with Coldplay about to come on stage.
“Cruise is bloody loving it,” apparently.
