A FURIOUS mum can barely bring herself to look at her son after her ‘spiteful’ mother-in-law chopped off his hair – when she told her not to.
The mum of two revealed she’d sent her kids to stay with their gran overnight, the first time in two years.
The mother-in-law owns a hairdressing salon, and had previously asked to cut her five-year-old son’s hair.
The mum, who also has a 20-month-old, had expressly forbidden it, as she loved her son’s shoulder-length hair.
But to her horror, when she went to pick up her children she discovered her mother-in-law had shaved her son’s hair off.
She vented her anger on Netmums, where she revealed she was so traumatised she could barely bring herself to look at her son.
She said: “My son has gorgeous shoulder length locks. She asked to get it cut, hubby and I both said no.
“She took him to her salon and did it anyway. She had his hair clippered to a number 2.
“I am beyond hurt, angry, upset you name it. She knew I loved his hair, my son also liked it too.
“She deliberately went against what we stated.”
She said her mother-in-law didn’t give her son a choice in the matter, but told him to “pick a style” and then her brother-in-law cut the lad’s hair.
After the betrayal she’s now blocked her husband’s mum on social media and cut all contact, adding it’s not the first time she’s “overstepped the mark”.
She added: “I told her she had no right to do that, I was so shocked I didn’t have a go at her like I would now if I saw her.
I almost can’t bear to look at him
Furious mum
“I walked out, hubby told her what he thought too and then packed up and left.
“I’ve devastated that she would be so spiteful.
“I still feel so angry, it keeps coming back to me every time I look at my son.
“He’s just confused but I almost can’t bear to look at him as it reminds me what she has done.”
People have sympathised with the mum’s position, branding the mother-in-law a “narcissist”.
Commenting on her post, one person said: “I would rip her face off. Alright that might be a bit far but I would be livid and I don’t blame you for cutting her off.
“She’d never have him unsupervised if she did that to my child.”
Someone else said: “You are 110% entitled to be furious with MIL and to have cut all contact on social media.
“She has shown total disregard for your feelings or wishes and sounds like a bit of a narcissist to be honest.”
A third added: “This is absolutely awful for you and your family.
“Your anger is absolutely justified and I’d feel exactly the same. MIL, grandparent, whatever, she has overstepped the mark bigstyle!”
