The legendary Fortnite player and streamer Cody ‘Clix‘ Conrod will be joining the Icon Series with the debut of Clix-inspired items on March 22nd. The collection includes the Clix Icon skin, Clix Bear Back Bling, Chain Linx Wrap, Clix Groove Emote and more.

While most of the items have been well received by the community, the Clix Icon skin has faced criticism regarding its design.

Esports Fans Angry Over Clix Skin

Clix has gone from one of the most celebrated Fortnite pros to a controversial figure, which has led to mixed and strong criticisms over his skin added to the battle royale.

“He could’ve made his skin better, but yeah, it’s probably the worst Icon skin I’ve seen so far,” a Twitter (X) user commented.

Apart from this, Clix’s inclusion in the Icon Series has sparked debate within the community. Some fans question his selection due to his past tweets targeting Donald Mustard, the former CCO at Epic Games, while others argue that his competitive achievements and influence on Fortnite esports scene justify the recognition.

“Didn’t this guy do really bad sh— towards Epic employees? This feels kinda like a slap in the face to them and kinda screams ‘doesn’t really matter what you do, you can get a skin!’ Idk, I think it’s such a weird thing for them to do,” a user stated.

A supporter responding to this concern said, “Clix is an icon no matter what anybody says. Who knows where Fortnite would be without Clix box fights and everything he did along the way. He made mistakes, but he was also young for most of them. Everybody learns.”

“Dude helped carry competitive content for years. He deserves it and the skins are clean,” another tweeted.

Clix qualified for the Fortnite World Cup when he was just 14 years old and has so far won nearly 40 Fortnite tournaments across various competitive tiers. He is also one of the most popular Fortnite streamers, with over 8m followers on Twitch and 3m subscribers on YouTube.

In addition to the new cosmetics, players will also be able to explore Clix’s new island, created in partnership with Sloth Games. The island features a tycoon-style game where players take on the role of an aspiring content creator.

Moreover, players will be able to compete in the Clix Icon Cup on March 21st for a chance to unlock the entire Clix Bundle for free ahead of its release, along with the Sparx Outfit and Dr3amin Spray.
