Feeling horny? This is officially the sexiest time of the week

It turns out that there is a sexiest time of the week – right down to the minute (Picture: getty)

It’s the weekend, and life is good. You’ve got two days to do exactly what you want. You feel free, you feel relaxed, you feel… sexy?

It’s perhaps not a surprise to hear that our sex drives our higher at the end of the working week.

But it turns out there is a specific time and day that really gets us going: 10:09pm on a Saturday is officially the horniest time of the week.

In a brand new study, 43% of adults revealed that this day is their favourite when it comes to sex.

If we slide even deeper (sorry…), 34% of us who are sexually active feel that between 10pm and midnight is when we’re the most sensual.

Of that 34% though, an overwhelming 80% agreed that the sweet spot is just before the clock strikes 10.10pm.

Maybe that’s just the time you lock eyes with a sexy stranger across the bar, or perhaps your Netflix binge on the sofa with your beau has just finished and it’s time to ‘chill’.

From 8pm to 10pm is also a fairly popular time slot for doing the deed and, interestingly, more than half of women (54%) prefer to get hot and heavy slightly earlier in the evening.

The global study by lingerie brand Pour Moi also revealed that 48% of us are likely to have sex just once a week – making Saturday a day to look forward to.

It’s hardly surprising that Friday is the second sexiest day, with 22% of adults opting to get it on at the end of the working week.

Sunday and Thursday followed at 10% and 6% respectively, and in a predictable series of events, Monday was voted the least sexy day of the week.

Just 2% of guys and gals prefer to get hot under the covers on a Monday. To be specific, the least sexy time of the week happens to be 1.02pm on a Monday – again, most of us will be sat at a desk replying to emails, so there’s no surprise there.

How often do people have sex?

About 48% of adults have sex with someone once a week.

For a fifth of adults, twice a week is the norm, while 13% of adults get frisky three times a week.

If you feel like you should be having sex daily then just know you’d be in the minority – just 1% of adults get it on every single day.

Plus, researchers from the University of Toronto Mississauga found that having sex around once a week is the ‘sweet spot’ for happiness.

Any more than that doesn’t really have any effect on people, based on data from 25,510 Americans aged 18 to 89.

Kate Moyles, Sex & Relationship Expert for LELO UK also believes we shouldn’t put ourselves under pressure to stick to a particular frequency.

She says: ‘Sex lives go in ebbs and flows, and we shouldn’t expect them to be constant, as when we do we can create ourselves extra stresses and anxieties when there are changes, about what it means that these changes are happening.

‘Rather than focusing on trying to objectively measure our sex lives based on regularity, try to focus on satisfaction and enjoyment, as regularity isn’t necessarily a guarantee of that.

How sexy are the different days of the week?

  1. Saturday (43%)
  2. Friday (22%)
  3. Sunday (10%)
  4. Thursday (6%)
  5. Wednesday (5%)
  6. Tuesday (4%)
  7. Monday (2%)

‘That said for some people if regularity is an important part of their sex lives, there is likely to also be an important element of it being prioritised in their relationship and that being meaningful for them.’

When it comes to how often people would have sex in an ideal world, most confessed that twice a week would be their perfect amount.

Interestingly, 25 to 45-year-old women had the highest sex drives, wanting to get down and dirty four times a week. Men, on the other hand, were content with twice a week.
