Extremely large donkey Derrick could become a world record holder

If, like us, you were a fan of extremely big steer Knickers, we think you’ll like Derrick.

Derrick is not a cow, but much like Knickers he is a large being and a force of good.

Derrick is a donkey. An exceptionally hefty donkey.

He measures in at 16.3 hands tall, making him around 5ft 7 inches – just one inch off the record for the largest donkey in the world, currently held by 5ft 8ins donkey Romulus.

Unlike Romulus, Derrick is still growing. His owners say he’ll easily become a world record holder for being the world’s biggest donkey. We believe in him.

Derrick currently lives at Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary in Lincolnshire, and spends his days playing with other normal size donkeys and his human pals.

Sanctuary owner Tracy Garton said: ‘He was always big, he was big when he was born.

See what we mean about the bucket, though? Bit deceptive (Picture: SWNS)

‘He hasn’t finished growing yet, they stop growing when they reach seven years old. So he still has a lot of time.

‘Derrick is very very friendly. He’s just like a big dog, follows you around all the time and wants to be by your side.’

When Derrick reaches seven years and stops growing, Tracy will give Guinness World Records a call.

In the meantime, Derrick just needs to add a few more inches to brag about his height on Tinder.
